Race Mode

Drop the needle. Hit the tube.

Core Experience

Race Mode is the heart of Rhythm Racer — a score attack through a music-generated 360° tunnel. Pick any song from your library or the 100+ built-in original tracks. The game analyzes the audio and builds a unique tube where bass, drums, and melody all shape the track geometry.

Twelve lanes wrap around you in a full circle. Move between them to gather gems on the beat and slip past obstacles, all timed to the music. Every decision matters — miss a gem column and you lose combo potential; hit an obstacle and you might need that shield you collected three beats ago.

The same song always generates the same track. Nothing is random. That means you can learn the flow, find your optimal line, and push your score higher run after run until you've truly mastered a song.

How it works

  • Pick a song — built-in or from your PC library
  • Audio analysis builds a deterministic 360° tube
  • 12 lanes wrap around your ship
  • Collect gems on the beat for score and combos
  • Dodge obstacles synced to the music
  • Shield gems let you survive one hit
  • Post-run score saved to per-song leaderboards
  • Replay to learn the track and beat your best
  • Optional ghost racing — race your best run or a Steam leaderboard ghost

Cruise Mode

Just ride — no fight, just a drive.

Chill

Not every run has to be a score attack. Cruise Mode is built for longer tracks and longer sessions: one continuous drive through ever-changing tubes while your playlist rolls on uninterrupted.

You get the same music-reactive world — the tube still pulses with every beat, bass drop still reshapes the path ahead — but with far less pressure. No frantic score chasing. No leaderboard anxiety. Just you, your custom ship, your styled tunnel, and the flow.

It's the wind-down mode for when you've had a long day and don't want a fight — you want a drive. Queue up an album, pick your favourite colour preset, and disappear into the music.

How it works

  • Designed for extended playlists and longer songs
  • Continuous driving — no run reset between tracks
  • Music-reactive tube generation still active
  • Reduced scoring pressure vs Race Mode
  • Ideal for showcasing ship & tube customization
  • Perfect background vibe while you unwind
  • Same BYOM + built-in library support

Ghost Racing

A Race Mode option — chase the ghost when you want to.

Race Option

When you're feeling competitive, the challenge is built in. Ghost Racing layers on top of Race Mode — race your own best run or someone else's, with their ghost ship flying alongside you in real time.

Every lane change, every gem collected, every near-miss is replayed beside you. Watch where they went, learn their path, and figure out exactly where you can shave off time or grab gems they missed. It's the ultimate teaching tool and the ultimate flex when you finally beat them.

Scores feed into per-song Steam leaderboards, so every track in the game is its own competitive arena. You're always one run away from a new personal best — or from knocking someone off the top spot.

How it works

  • Available during Race Mode runs
  • Race against your own previous best ghost
  • Or load a ghost from Steam leaderboards
  • Ghost replays every lane change and gem pickup
  • Per-song leaderboards via Steam
  • Learn optimal lines by watching faster players
  • Deterministic tracks make ghost comparison fair

Local Multiplayer

Pull up a second seat.

2–4 Players

Grab a friend — or three — for 2–4 player split-screen on the same couch. Same music, same tube, head to head. Everyone races through the identical deterministic track, so skill and knowledge of the song decide the winner, not RNG.

Each player gets their own viewport on screen, their own ship (with their own custom colours), and their own score. It's perfect for party nights, showing off a new song's track layout, or settling who actually knows the chorus drop better.

Controller support is full and recommended for multiplayer — grab four pads and turn your living room into a neon tunnel arena.

How it works

  • 2–4 player shared/split-screen PvP
  • Same song, same generated tube for all players
  • Individual scores tracked per player
  • Each player uses their own ship customization
  • Full controller support (recommended)
  • Works with built-in and custom music
  • Same gem, obstacle, and shield mechanics

Stream Mode

Bring your whole chat.

Twitch

Streaming? Stream Mode turns your Twitch chat into live racers. Viewers type !play to join the queue — no install on their side, no account linking, no friction. AI drives their ships based on their queue position, so anyone can jump in instantly.

Your chat becomes part of the race on split-screen — viewer ships share the tube alongside you. Community nights become chat-vs-streamer showdowns, regulars compete across songs, and new viewers discover the game by literally playing from chat in seconds.

It's built for streamers who want interactive content without the setup headache — and for communities who want to feel like they're inside the tube with you.

How it works

  • Twitch chat integration built in
  • Viewers type !play to join the race queue
  • No game install required for viewers
  • AI drives queued viewer ships automatically
  • Streamer races alongside chat-controlled ships
  • Split-screen view — your ship and viewer ships on screen together
  • Perfect for community nights and events
  • Chat-vs-streamer race format supported
